PSD MP Gabriel Zetea, Quaestor of the Chamber of Deputies, says that Chamber of Deputies employees who receive salaries from public funds were seen on Wednesday participating in events organized by representatives of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) in Parliament. Zetea announces that it wants sanctions against those who participated in the AUR protest.

“This is how we ended the year with protests, scandal, howling, shouting, aggression from colleagues in the Romanian Parliament, with AUR, this is how we start it again, with the scandal with AUR. I don’t think you’ll find a public speech by a politician that doesn’t include the word “scandal” that doesn’t include George Simeon. (…) That deputies from AUR still come and protest… but today I saw workers of the Chamber of Deputies who, during the program, came together with AUR to protest. This is something I’ve never heard before: salaried people who receive money from the public purse, instead of working, are encouraged by AUR representatives to protest,” Gabriel Zetea said Wednesday night on TVR Info, according to News.ro. .

He added that he wants the employees who receive a salary from the budget and who, instead of performing their official duties, went to the party protest, to suffer sanctions.

“Obviously, tomorrow (not Thursday) we will meet in the Permanent Office of the Chamber of Deputies to discuss this situation. Employees who did this should expect sanctions, because at the end of the day, you are paid with Romanian money not to sit next to George Simion with protest posters, but to work,” said Gabriel Zetea.

He believes that no one can deprive a people’s deputy of the right to express his opinion, but going to a protest action by employees of the parliament’s apparatus is “another level of arrogance that the AUR has achieved during this period.”

AUR parliamentarians protested on Wednesday in the parliament, in the hall of the PSD parliamentary group, where the meeting of the party’s leadership was to begin, against the intention of the government headed by Prime Minister Marcel Čolaku to combine the European Parliament with local elections. AUR leader George Simion exchanged words with Chamber President Interim Alfred Simonis after he asked him to leave the room.
