At the “WTA 500” tournament in Linz, Jacqueline Christian stopped in the 1/8 finals, where our athlete was defeated in two sets by Jodi Burrage (the second-ranked British woman).

Arriving in the main draw as a lucky loser, Christian (89 WTA) succumbed after an hour and 35 minutes of play, 6-3, 7-6(5).

Jacqueline came back from 2-5 down in the second set and saved two match points in the tiebreak, but Burrage (102 WTA) eventually managed to close out the match.

• For reaching the 1/8 finals, Jacqueline Christian will receive 11,823 euros and 60 WTA points in the singles ranking.

• Christian made a significant jump in the WTA Live ranking (9 positions) and is in 80th place (the highest was 58th).

• In the quarterfinals, Jodi will meet the winner of the match between Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko (12 WTA, the main favorite) and Denmark’s Klara Toson (91 WTA, ahead of Christian in the last round of qualification).

The Upper Austria Ladies Linz is part of the WTA 500 category and runs from January 29 to February 4 on hard, offering a total prize pool of $922,573. Titled champion (since 2023) – Anastasia Potapova.
