RedBull absolutely dominated the 2023 Formula 1 season, and many fans of the Grand Circus complained about the lack of spectacle. Max Verstappen broke several important records and ended the season with 19 wins (!), but Christian Horner (boss of the champion team) says that such an advantage will not be repeated.

David Coulthard says RedBull ‘destroyed’ F1 magic with track wins

It’s been a magical, unique season for RedBull fans, says Christian Horner, chairman of the Milton Keynes-based team.

Of the 23 Grands Prix, one was canceled due to weather conditions (Imola on May 21), and of the 22 completed, 19 victories were won by Max Verstappen.

Sergio Perez (Max’s teammate) also won twice, and the honor of other Formula 1 teams was saved by Scuderia Ferrari: Carlos Sainz won in Singapore and checked the only Grand Prix for the whole of 2023 that did not go to RedBull.

A month before the start of the new season (it will take place on March 2 at the Sahir Autodrome), Christian Horner is optimistic about his team’s chances of retaining the world championship titles.

However, the RedBull boss believes that such a fantastic season as 2023 will not happen again for the team he leads.

In addition, Horner predicts that we will see more intense racing, with more dynamism and without that fantastic monopoly of RedBull pilots.

The Brit also expects his rivals’ single-seaters to look more and more like RedBull cars.

“We will not repeat last year (there are no special performances). 2023 will remain unique for us, we are sure of that.

I expect the single seaters to be like RedBull because it’s inevitable. I am sure that in the next two years we will see closer races,” said Christian Horner.

Former Formula 1 driver and one of the first RedBull single-seaters (between 2005 and 2008), David Coulthard also spoke about the Austrian team’s dominance in the Grand Circus.

“Too much success takes away the magic (not to mention lack of showmanship). In sports we strive to inspire, to grow, to move forward, and if a team does all that, then it does not give enough hope for everyone.” – David Coulthardabout RedBull’s fantastic lead in 2023.
