​The Bucharest Municipality Health Board (DSMB) imposed 8,000 lei on the University of Bucharest (UB) following an inspection carried out on Monday afternoon. There is no contract for disinsection and deratization services for dormitory B in Grozavesti, the head of DSP Bucharest told HotNews.ro.

DSP Bucharest independently notified and went to check Dormitory B in Grozăvești after HotNews.ro published the testimony of students living in the dormitory about a possible infestation of bed bugs.

  • “Student dormitory B – University of Bucharest does not have a DDD service contract. The bidding process was launched before the start of the 2023-2024 school year, but due to defects cited by the participants and a lawsuit, the contract was not finalized.
  • The last disinsection/deratization work was carried out in June-July 2023. During this week, a contract will be signed with the company that will provide DDD services.
  • A fine of 8,000 lei was imposed,” DSP Bucharest head Christina Pelin told us.

At the same time, representatives of the dormitory must install two new washing machines within 48 hours.

  • “Within 24 hours, the DSPMB will be informed (after coordination with the DDD supplier) of the time frame in which the disinsection and deratization works can be carried out/completed.
  • Regarding the washing machines, 2 new washing machines will be installed within 48 hours.
  • The DSPMB will monitor the deadlines for removal,” the authorities also said.
