Six medals won by Romania at the European Table Tennis U21 Championships
Bianca May-Rochu and Olena Zacharia won the women’s doubles gold medal at the European U21 Table Tennis Championships on Sunday.
May-Roshu and Olena Zacharia defeated Kamelia Mitrofan/Sara Tokic (Slovenia) 3-1 (11-5 8-11, 11-0, 11-3) in the final.
Both pairs were in this composition for the first time at major competitions.
Romania also won two silver medals and one bronze in Skopje: Eduard Ionescu/Darius Movilianu, U21 men’s doubles silver, Darius Movilianu/Olena Zaharia, U21 mixed doubles silver, and Julian Chirica/Andrej Istrate, men’s bronze doubles U21.
Olena Zakharia will win another medal at the European U21 Championship, qualifying for the women’s singles final, where she will face Ukraine’s Veronika Matyunina, News.ro reports.
