According to Saturday’s draw, Romania will play the Czech Republic in the European phase of the 2025 World Men’s Handball Championship play-offs.

Romania, a match with the Czech Republic in the play-offs of the 2025 World Cup in men’s handball

The matches between Romania and the Czech Republic will be played both ways on May 8-12, 2024.

At the time of the draw, the Romanian national team was part of the second most valuable box, where it was placed thanks to its participation in the European Championship 2024, a competition that, in total, 65 matches, 1,008,660 spectators in the arenas, a new record, KFC said at a press conference on Saturday.

In the second urn, the playoff table will be completed by four teams, which are scheduled for March 13 and 16: Israel – Slovakia, Finland – Lithuania, Estonia – Ukraine and Italy – Belgium, taking into account the previous second stage of qualification.

  • The 2025 World Cup will be held in Croatia, Denmark and Norway from January 14 to February 2.
  • Europe has 11 available places in the final tournament through qualification, with the three hosts having already qualified, along with France, Germany and Sweden (from UEFA EURO 2024). 32 teams will compete in the final tournament.
  • The trophy was won by the Danish team, which won the finals in 2019, 2021 and 2023.
