Daniil Medvedev reached the final of the Australian Open after a tense match, at the end of which he defeated Zverev with a score of 5-7, 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(5), 6 -3.

Leading 2-0, the Australian Open No. 3 seed won the next two sets in tiebreaks before taking the crown much quicker in the decider.

Late in the match, the Russian found himself succumbing to fatigue in the third set, which led to a more aggressive game.

“At some point in the third set, I felt physical fatigue. Looking at him (without Zverev), I didn’t feel it. I actually realized that I could no longer do the 40 throw exchanges like I did in the first set.

So I said, OK, let me be more aggressive. If it doesn’t work, at least I tried.” I tried what I thought would work. It started working. I started serving much better.

That tiebreak (set 4, where Zverev was 5-4 and two serves) was incredible. I got a little lucky on that 5-5 comeback. But this is tennis” Daniil Medvedev saidreports Eurosport.

The final of the Australian Open 2024 between Yannick Sinner and Daniil Medvedev will take place on Sunday from 10:30.
