The Chinese manufacturer already offers several SUVs in its lineup: the small urban crossover BYD Atto 3, as well as the large family SUV BYD Tang, which will soon be joined by the BYD Seal U SUV.
To complete its range, BYD is preparing to launch a new model, the BYD Yuan Up : the more affordable compact SUV announced today with a series of teaser photos is still half in the dark.

BYD Yuan Up: an affordable compact SUV

In fact, BYD introduced on the Chinese social network Weibo first teaser photos of its BYD Yuan Up, a compact SUV that will complement the “Yuan” lineup consisting of the Yuan Pro and Yuan Plus, the latter called the Atto 3 in Europe.
These first images give us an idea of ​​it designeven though it has already leaked online via MIIT, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which is responsible for vehicle approvals.
We find a rather fluid style with highlighted fenders as well as a floating roof that resembles that of its competitor Smart #1. The front is distinguished by a full grille and its optics with a machined light signature, while the rear is marked by a red light frame that connects the two taillights with light signature which resembles the symbol of infinity. The BYD logo sits proudly in the middle of this tailgate.

The first information was leaked

Even if the Chinese firm has yet to reveal official information about its new BYD Yuan Up, the Chinese website MIIT has already published a lot of technical information. The model is 4.31 meters long, 1.83 meters wide, and 1.67 meters high, which puts it in the middle between city and compact SUVs.
The model is based on architecture e-Platform 3.0, intended for electric vehicles and which, in particular, is equipped with the BYD Dolphin. We have to find two engines under its hood: one with 95 horsesand the second with 177 horsepower, the maximum speed is electronically limited to 160 km/h. The compact battery that will be equipped with this new SUV should be the expensive “Blade” battery for the BYD brand.
The BYD Yuan Up is set to be fully officially unveiled in the coming weeks, and the Chinese manufacturer is taking the opportunity to open pre-orders for its new model in China. Then the model could will arrive in Europe by 2025.

According to preliminary estimates, this compact SUV could be sold in China at the price is about 15,000 euroswhich should give it a certain competitive advantage.
