The Kremlin said on Tuesday that Europeans are beginning to turn their backs on Ukraine, a new arrow fired by Moscow at a time when continued aid to Kyiv is raising internal tensions in the European Union (EU) and the United States of America (US), reports AFP, as reported by Agerpres .
“The Europeans are well aware that they have thrown their money out the window,” Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmytro Peskov told Russian news agencies.
According to Peskov, in this way the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi is “in a very difficult position”. “He no longer receives money, he lacks ammunition abroad and he has problems at home,” Peskov added.
In recent weeks, the Kremlin has tried to portray Western countries, Kiev’s main supporters, as divided over the way forward in Ukraine after nearly two years of Russian offensive.
The tone in Moscow is much more optimistic after the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive last year.
Thus, a front of about 1000 km in length in Ukraine is frozen, in favor of the Russian army, which occupied almost 20% of the territory of the neighboring country and which in recent months has been able to strengthen its position, at the same time the Time of mobilization of the national industry will provide you with the necessary ammunition to continue the offensive.
“Biden is bankrupt”
On Tuesday, Dmytro Peskov also expressed his satisfaction with the divisions in the US political class as Republicans continue to block major aid to Kyiv.
“At some point (US President Joe) Biden said that this is an investment for the Americans,” Peskov said regarding aid to Ukraine. “If we consider him as such, then he has gone bankrupt,” said the Kremlin spokesman.
Ukraine, for its part, has expressed concerns about declining support for the West after two years of conflict, which has exhausted public opinion, and with the approach of important electoral terms – European elections in June in the EU and presidential elections in November in the United States.
According to the Kiel Institute in Germany, Western countries have already pledged more than 100 billion dollars to Ukraine to support its economy, which has been badly affected by the conflict.
