Casper Ruud, a player with three Grand Slam finals, was stopped in the third round of the Australian Open after losing in four sets to a player lower in the ATP rankings.

Cameron Norrie knocks Casper Ruud out of the 2024 Australian Open

Melbourne’s 11th seed Ruud was knocked out by Cameron Norrie (22nd ATP), 6-4, (6)6-7, 6-4, 6-3.

Briton Norrie was better in winning shots (62-54) and won after three hours and five minutes of play.

• Cameron (19th seed) reached the round of 16 of the Australian Open for the first time and will meet the winner of the match between Germany’s Alexander Zverev (6) and American Alex Michelsen (91 ATP).

• Ruud won the first three straight matches with Norrie: San Diego 2021 (final), Tournament of Champions 2021 and Miami 2022.

• We remind you that Ruud reached the finals of three major tournaments: US Open (2022) and Roland Garros (2022, 2023), as well as in the last act of the Champions Tour (2022).

Australian Open 2024 will be held from January 14 to 28. The reigning champions are Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenko.
