Speaking alongside Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, Breton assured the audience that the European Union would reach its goal of producing one million shells a year by March or April.

“We will continue to improve our production capacity, probably to about 1.3-1.4 million … by the end of this year, and we will continue to increase it significantly next year,” he added in 2025.

The European Commissioner refused to disclose the actual production figures, saying that this is confidential information.

“With such a production capacity of a million projectiles… we have to make sure that most of it goes to Ukraine as a priority. Because there is an urgent need,” he added.
