“Regarding the much-discussed proposal for a blessing for gay couples. This is a personal gesture that the Pope has taken upon himself. However, this is an extra-liturgical blessing, therefore it is not connected with the liturgy, the marriage of these people is not concluded. Blessing. I interpreted it as a sign of leniency for these people, who I think the Pope wants to bring them closer to the church, but not to remain in the same situation,” Vasile Benescu said Thursday night in Euronews Romania, according to News.ro.

He said that homosexuality “is a sin” because according to the moral law written in the Holy Scriptures, relationships between people of the same sex are considered a sin.

“It’s unnatural. At least in Orthodox Christianity, homosexuality will never be accepted. I believe that it is not Catholic Christianity that poses the problem of acceptance of homosexuality, but the societies in which this Christianity exists. (…) Christian morality cannot include sin,” said Vasile Benescu.

He was convinced that Romanian society, which polls show has confidence in the Church, supports this idea.

A representative of the Patriarchate noted that the Church does not prohibit homosexuals from going to church: “These people are not a big problem, they can come to church, no one expels them from the church, but you come to church to be renewed.”

Benescu also spoke about pornography, which, according to him, is “harmful to the human personality, because it represents the unnatural, represents an excess that does not coincide with reality” and represents “the dragging of the person concerned into a sphere from which he could not do it.” returns.”

“Love, sexual pleasure, as the Pope said (Francis – no), these are things that are part of human nature. Of course, sex is not a sin, of course carnal relations are not a sin between people who have a certain order in their lives, who love, who are loved, but apart from that, pornography is an extremely dangerous plague on a planetary level. , – said Banescu.
