The main favorite of the competition in Melbourne is Iga with a decisive victory in the last two games against the athlete from the USA (6-1, 6-0), but she had a much more difficult match at the Rod Laver Arena.
Svyatek emotionally won the first set (6-4, from 1-3), but clearly lost the second set (6-3 for Collins) and the American led in the decisive set with two breaks (4-1).
Five games in a row were won by Iga Svyatek, who won after almost three hours of play, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
