Over the years, the heat has claimed many lives at the Australian Open, and this year’s tournament was no exception. Jack Draper won the match and Marcos Giron went 1-2 in sets, but the end of the match was very difficult for the Briton.

Jack Draper threw up after defeating Marcos Giron at the 2024 Australian Open

In Melbourne, the temperature exceeded 30 degrees Celsius and Draper (55 ATP) was in big trouble in the first five-set match of his career.

At the end of the match, which lasted three hours and 15 minutes (6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 to Draper), the Briton rushed to shake his opponent’s hand and then threw an up in – a garbage can at edge of the field

Draper has a tough mission ahead of him in the second round, the stage of the competition, where he will face American Tommy Paul (14th favourite). The game will be played on Thursday, when temperatures are expected to be much cooler.

Australian Open 2024 will be held from January 14 to 28. The reigning champions are Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenko.
