We talked about this a few days ago, after the publication of his results for 2023: Opel works much better ! The brand grew by 19.7% in France last year to almost 52,000 registrations in the retail channel. Success thanks to Corsa, 1D a city car sold in Germany and the United Kingdom, with sales up 35% in France. Mokka (+9%) and Astra (X3!) confirmed the recovery of the German brand, which today is under the management of Stellantis. A year that started quickly, so 2024 Opel plans to release several new products. At the beginning of January, he opens orders for 3 new “models”…
Corsa and Grandland switch to a hybrid
Yes, in quotes, because we are not talking about new products, but about introduction of new variants of existing models. The first new feature: hybrid ! After Peugeot, Citroën, Jeep and Fiat, it was Opel’s turn to inherit new 1.2 liter Puretech unit, available in 100 or 136 horsepower. It’s not a plug-in hybrid (like Toyota and Renault) and not even a plug-in hybrid. This is 48 V micro-hybrid system which helps the gasoline engine in its most energy-consuming phases (starting, acceleration, recovery, etc.) to reduce fuel consumption. In fact, only one kilometer can be driven on 100% electricity during maneuvers or when driving at a speed of less than 30 km/h. This new engine appears on the Corsa city car and the Grandland SUV.
The station wagon Astra becomes electric
Another novelty the appearance of the Astra Sports Tourer electric station wagon ! After the Corsa-e, Astra-e (5 doors) and Mokka-e, Opel’s electric range is expanding with a fourth battery model (excluding SUVs). Introducing an electric wagon (a cousin of the Peugeot e-308 wagon), Opel wants to appeal to both family and professional fleets. Astra Sports Tourer Electric is equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 156 horsepowerand a 54kWh battery to keep it going 413 kilometers on electricity, for an average consumption that is displayed at 15 kWh/100 km. So how much will you have to pay for all these new features? Count A minimum of 23,500 euros for a Corsa hybrid40,200 euros for the Grandland hybrid and 42,140 euros for the Astra electric station wagon. Note that the latter is also offered for long-term rent from €219/month, with free home charging station (LLD 24 months/20,000 km).
