More than 1,000 Russians voluntarily joined the army, lured by especially attractive salaries in the poorest regions of the country, according to the data of the Ukrainian military intelligence service of the HUR, made public on Monday in an interview with one of its spokesmen, Vadym Skibitskyi. quoted by EFE.
“Every day, 1,000 to 1,100 people join the ranks of the armed forces of the Russian Federation,” resulting in approximately 30,000 recruits per month, Skibitskyi told the Ukrainian publication RBC, according to Agerpres.
Answering a question about the reasons for encouraging voluntary conscription into the Russian army, the GUR spokesman pointed to salaries of 220,000 to 250,000 rubles per month (from 2,280 to 2,600 euros) for those who sign contracts with the Russian armed forces to participate in combat operations on the Ukrainian front. .
Such salaries are especially attractive in less prosperous regions of Russia, he explained.
According to Kyiv, Russia will lose about 1,000 soldiers every day in the theaters of military operations in Ukraine.
Voluntary conscription would temporarily replace these losses without the need to resort to a new wave of mobilization.
