Carriers that they closed several sections of roads on Wednesdayto protest the RCA prices, is discussing with several secretaries of state and state advisers in the government on Wednesday, Digi24 reported.
According to the president of the Federation of Romanian Transport Operators (FORT), Augustin Hagiu, about 6,000 trucks took part in the transporters’ protest on Wednesday, who were unhappy with the RCA price change.
He said yesterday that a delegation could be present in the government on Thursday for discussions.
- “I think it has reached 6,000 trucks at the moment: the fact that RCA has exploded in the last two years, it has practically tripled in the B0 class, the fact that we still have big problems on the southern and western border, to wait, abuse and there are still weights, the fact that from January 2025 the tripling of the cost of tolls is being prepared – Rovinieta and Go Box will pay, the fact that there is no dialogue at all. You have been saying for a year and a half that we don’t even have a state secretary or a transport minister. Zero meetings, zero discussions, zero dialogues. All measures coincide. A lot of problems have arisen that no one from the Government or relevant ministries wants to deal with, and obviously people manifest themselves in the way you see them,” accused Augustyn Hagiu.
On Wednesday, traffic was blocked by several transporter trucks protesting against driving at the minimum speed on the A1 Bucharest-Pitesti highway.
There were also convoys of cars on the Capital Ring, between the towns of Chiaina and Bragadir in Ilfov. There were similar situations in other regions of the country on the strip of big cities, where traffic was complicated, at very low speed, and blocked in places.
Vasile Stefanescu, president of the Confederation of Authorized Operators and Carriers of Romania (COTAR), said yesterday that carriers want to enter into protocols with insurers from outside the country to sell them RCA policies at the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) base rate. ).
Farmers also joined the transporters’ protest.
Representatives of some representative agricultural organizations said they had nothing to do with the spontaneous protest announced online by farmers from several regions of the country who are heading to Bucharest with several trucks and tractors, but they confirmed the participation of some farmers from their organization. At the same time, the head of the agricultural organization says that there is a possibility that the campaign will continue.
A farmer from Botoshan told Digi24 that “there are many problems, if there were only three, we wouldn’t be out on the streets.” He accused that there were several meetings with ministers, but no one came with the right measures, “we only take beautiful pictures”, after the Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbou, accused that the protest was political.
- “There are several demands on the ministers’ desks. These measures should be taken not only by the Minister of Agriculture, but also by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They promised a law on force majeure, compensation for drought, administrative support at all levels. Romania is in great danger with food safety. When those who produce in Romania no longer have a framework…,” said Danuc Andrus, a farmer.
