Last year, 22,651 vehicles with green number plates were registered in Hungary, so 2023 is again a record year, surpassing the figure of almost 21,000 vehicles registered in 2022. More than 60% of vehicles with green plates entering the road in 2023 were clean. electric, says the Ministry of Energy of Hungary.
According to the same source, by the end of December last year, more than 86,000 ecological cars were already on the roads of Hungary. Of the total fleet, approximately 45,000 are fully electric cars, nearly 3,000 are electric trucks, approximately 500 eco-friendly electric motorcycles and 206 fully electric buses.
The ministry emphasized that green energy represents the future of Hungary’s economy, and the government is committed to greening transport as a key element in reducing environmental pollution and meeting climate commitments.
Companies can request a non-refundable subsidy from the state for the purchase of purely electric cars, vans or minibuses by applying to the project competition, which starts in early February. Companies can receive subsidies from 2.8 to 4 million forints (7.4-10.5 thousand euros) of the 30 billion forints (79.2 million euros) budget for the purchase of a car, depending on the capacity of its battery, Hungarian officials also specify. according to Agency MTI, citing News.ro.
