​Ana Bohdan stopped in the 1/8 finals of the “WTA 500” tournament in Adelaide, our athlete was defeated in two sets by the experienced Laura Siegemund (89 WTA / 35 years old).

Having entered the main draw as a lucky loser (after Lesia Tsurenko was eliminated), Bohdan (66 WTA) lost after an hour and 50 minutes of play with the score 6-4, 7-5.

Ana had a disastrous start to the match, losing her serve twice, but recovered both breaks and leveled the score (3-3). Siegemund served better at the end of the set and won 6-4.

In the second set, the Romanian led with the score 4-1 and 5-2, but lost five games in a row and was eliminated from the competition in Australia.

• In the quarters, Laura Siegemund will meet the winner of the match between Russians Daria Kasatkina (15 WTA) and Anna Kalinska (75 WTA).

• Ana Bohdan will receive $13,170 and 60 WTA points in the singles ranking for being in eighth place.

• We will remind, Ana Bohdan was eliminated in the qualification of the tournament in Brisbane: 2-6, 2-6 with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (60 WTA, 5th favorite in the qualification), but replaced Lesya Tsurenko in the main draw and won the match with Katie Boulter in the first round.

Adelaide International (Australia) takes place from January 8 to 13 on hard. He has a total prize money of $922,573 and is a member of the “WTA 500”. The last champions are Esheli Barty (2020, 2022), Iga Sviatek (2021) and Belinda Bencic (2023).
