A place where the Romanian state keeps its mentally ill criminals locked up and tries to forget about them.
Over the past decade, the press has reported cases of abuse that took place behind the secured gates in Pădureni – Grajduri. Only at the end of last year, after the report of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT), the Romanian state decided to react.
