​A military aircraft of the Russian Air Force, which Moscow officially calls “aerospace”, accidentally dropped a bomb on the city of Rubizhne in the Luhansk region, which President Vladimir Putin has declared annexed to Russia, reports the AP agency, citing News. ro.

This was announced by the head of the regional administration, Leonid Pasechinyk, who was appointed by Moscow to manage the Luhansk region, stating that the FAB-250 bomb with a high-explosive fragmentation component did not suffer any losses.

Russia occupied part of the Luhansk region in 2014 after the illegal annexation of Crimea and the start of the separatist war in Donbas. After a full-scale invasion launched by Vladimir Putin in February 2022, Moscow’s forces occupied most of the region, including Rubizhny.

Putin announced the annexation of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions to Russia in a ceremony held in Moscow in September 2022, although his armed forces controlled only part of the territories of these Ukrainian regions.

Russia’s aerospace forces also suffered an accident last week

The new accident of the Russian Air Force occurred just six days after one of their planes accidentally dropped ammunition over the village of Petropavlivka in the Belgorod region on the border with Ukraine. Although they did not provide many details about the incident, Russian authorities promised the villagers that they would rebuild their destroyed homes.

Last April, another bomb accidentally dropped by a Russian warplane caused a powerful explosion in the city of Belgorod, injuring two people and scaring residents of the area.

On Monday morning, Russia launched a new strike with hypersonic and cruise missiles in Ukraine, striking near the front lines in the east of the country, as well as targets in the center and west of the country. According to the latest information, at least four civilians were killed and at least 30 were injured.
