CCTV footage released by Israeli police shows a large truck passing through a checkpoint in Biddu, an area between Jerusalem and Ramallah in the West Bank, a territory occupied by Israel since 1967.

Another, smaller van quickly follows him, knocks down the checkpoint agents and drives off.

In these pictures, the police can be seen opening fire in the direction of two cars.

“After they fired at the terrorists, a little girl who was in another vehicle at the checkpoint was injured,” Israeli police said.

“The terrorists have been neutralized,” the police said in a statement, without specifying whether the attackers were alive or dead.

Police add that a “preliminary examination” indicates that the car the girl was in was also damaged (by gunshots) and that a thorough investigation will be conducted.

Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service announced in its own statement that a 3-year-old girl was brought to the scene of the attack by its team.

“After a medical examination, death was confirmed,” the message added.
