“Our officer-agent entered the specified unit. We have already received a list of personnel participating in the Special Operation (as the Russians call the war against Ukraine – no). Their names, contact persons and personal data have been passed on to the competent authorities. The agent conveys warm greetings to his colleagues.”

Atesh also made public the coordinates of the division’s location.

“The very structure of the unit expands and strengthens our network of agents to do better,” the guerrilla mail added.

The elite police unit “Dzerzhinsky”, named after the founder of the Bolshevik political police, was renamed by decree of Vladimir Putin in 2014.

Felix Dzerzhinsky founded CEKA, the security apparatus known for organizing mass executions during the Russian Civil War.

Formed in 1924, the unit retained its name from 1926 until 1994, when it was changed to the Independent Operations Division.

Dzerzhinsky’s division provided security for the Potsdam Conference in 1945 and the Moscow Summer Olympics in 1980.

He was also sent to the regions of Nagorno-Karabakh, North Ossetia and Chechnya after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
