​Aryna Sabalenko justified her status as a big favorite and easily won the match against Daria Kasatkina (top five favorites). The athlete from Belarus won in two sets with a score of 6-1, 6-4 and thus reached the semifinals of WTA Brisbane.

Sabalenko started the match with Kasatkina with an important moral advantage: she had a very good year 2023 (she was the world leader, won the Australian Open, played the final at the US Open and the semifinals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon), and in direct matches she led with a score of 5 – 2.

Actually, the last two matches with Daria (both in 2023) Arina categorically won, and the scenario has not changed even now.

In the first set, in which she made three breaks and lost her serve only once, Sabalenko won 6-1.

Darya tried to vary the game, to break the opponent’s offensive momentum, but the attempts were doomed to failure. Sabalenko hit 14 winning shots, and parity returned to her after 32 minutes.

The second set was a bit more balanced, with only one break (2-2) making the difference. Sabalenko finished the game with new balls on serve, the score 6-4. The match lasted one hour and 28 minutes.
