
Two explosions wounded several people on Wednesday near a cemetery in Iran where a ceremony was being held to mark the 2020 killing of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani in a US drone strike, Iranian state media reported, Reuters reported.
- UPDATE 14:17 According to Iranian state television, at least 20 people were killed in the explosions.
State television reported the first explosion and then a second during a ceremony in the southeastern city of Kerman, saying several people were injured.
The semi-official Nournews station reported that “several gas cylinders exploded on the road leading to the cemetery and the relevant authorities are monitoring the situation.”
The SNN news agency reported that ambulances were heading to the cemetery where hundreds of Iranians had gathered to mark the anniversary of Soleimani’s death.
