In France, electric impressive progress in 2023. Since November every second new car (53%) now electrified (source: AAA-Data). A number that was unimaginable a few years ago!

But if sales to individuals increased sharply, then what to do with the market electric utility vehicles ?

How many electric vehicles are in the fleet?

On the national territory, 97,415 electric cars are in circulation. It only represents 1.34% with 7.3 million light trucks (LCV) in circulation in France.

This is still very little compared to diesel engines for example, which represent 93.6% of this park. Models essence are also well behind, only with 4.3% of the total fleet.

Which models are the best sellers?

Not surprisingly, the most popular electric LCV is Renault Kangoo ZE with 34,268 registrations. The electric Kangoo, which has been on sale since 2011 at the initiative of the UGAP order group and the La Poste group, is available in a universal or 5-seater station wagon version.

Then comes Renault Zoe AND Peugeot 208 in “two-seater” versions, respectively 9,905 AND 5,723 vehicles and finally the Citroën Jumpy, making the total 4460 registrations.

Do professionals avoid electricity?

Due to the fact that only 1% of the total LCV fleet is electric, one wonders if the professionals are avoiding “battery” models. But when compared to the rest of the market, the difference is less obvious.

In 2023, it is so 943,669 electric cars which were in circulation on the national territory, from the general fleet 38.7 million cars (all types of energy together). Thus, electric cars make up a little more than 3% of the total fleet.
