To find out if Romanians have the same Christmas playlist as the rest of the world, Panorama analyzed national Google search trends for the top five songs on the Billboard chart, as revealed by data from the week before Christmas.

We noticed that Romanians “stolen the start” and started looking for Christmas songs already in October, with “Last Christmas” by Wham! on the first place by the number of searches.

With the arrival of November, this hit was significantly separated from the rest of the New Year’s tracks. In the most recent week analyzed, Mariah Carey was dethroned in Google search results in Romania by Brenda Lee with “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” another recurring hit this time of year.
