Inger Smits, the fourth important transfer for CSM Bucharest

The main defender in the team of the Netherlands and the champion of Germany SG BBM Bietigheim Inger Smits will be in the team of the champion of Romania in the next two seasons.

The 2019 world champion and this year’s quarter-finalist, Smits, 29, won bronze at the 2018 European Championships when the Netherlands defeated Romania in the minor final, largely thanks to his defence.

He won the EHF Europa League in 2022 with Bittigheim, as well as the German championship in the last two seasons. Smits is part of a handball family, with her father and two brothers also playing for the Dutch national team, with the youngest, Kay, the winner of the last men’s Champions League.

“I can’t wait to play in a great atmosphere in Bucharest. See you next season!” said the Dutchman during the signing of the contract. And until then, on February 11, fans of the Tigers can see her at work in the capital in a match against ChSM, in the EGF Champions League match on February 11.

CSMB also transferred Danish winger Emma Friis (Ikast), goalkeeper Daciana Josa (SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea) and Brazilian goalkeeper Gabriela Gonçalves Diaz Moreschi (SG BBM Bietigheim) to the next season, writes News.ro.

At the same time, in the last two months, CSMB announced the extension of several contracts: Christina Nyagu (one year), Kryna Pintea (two years), Norwegian Emily Heg Arntzen (one season), Swedish goalkeeper Evelina Eriksson (two years), center Andrea Rotaru (two years ), Slovenian center Elizabeth Omoregi (two years).
