Rapid’s main shareholder Dan Shuku announced on Friday that the main goal for 2024 is to convince Mircea Lucescu to join the project in any position he wants.
Mircea Lucescu, in discussions for six months with Rapid
Mircea Lucescu, who graduated from the technical bench of Dynamo Kyiv at the beginning of November, announced that he does not want to retire and is negotiating with several teams from abroad.
Although he has re-confirmed Cristiano Bergodi as coach, Rapid want Lucescu Sr. to be involved in any way with the club he won the title with in 1999.
“One of the big goals for Rapid in 2024 was, is and will remain Mr. Mircea Lucescu. We appreciate it immensely. Not only is he a great coach, he is first and foremost a great footballer and his experience would be fantastic for Rapid.
My personal goal, if you will, is to try to convince Mr. Lucescu to join us in the Rapid project in whatever form his lordship desires. We started the discussion a few months ago, about 6 months if I’m not mistaken.
The ball is on Mr. Lucescu’s field. I also want to meet in the next few days, maybe after the holidays. It would be absolutely fantastic if such a football giant as Mircea Lucescu joined the Rapid project.
I repeat, in any form that his lordship wishes. There is no point in discussing Mircea Lucescu’s expertise, there is no point in discussing this person who represents the essence. Mircea Lucescu is the essence of football” – said Dan Shukfor Fanatik.
The club’s management has announced a goal for Rapid 1-3 at the end of the season, but the people of Giulesti are in the fourth position of the ranking, having accumulated 33 points, after 21 stages.
