The Super League, a competition that will compete with the UEFA Champions League, received a favorable opinion from the European Court of Justice, which ruled on Thursday that UEFA and FIFA acted illegally when they blocked the creation of the sports competition.

After UEFA reacted to the news about the feasibility of the Super League project, it was FIFA’s turn to announce the decision of the European Court of Justice.

Specifically, 64 teams will be able to participate on the basis of sporting merit in this competition, and it will not have privileged or permanent members, and participating clubs will not have to give up the national competition.

In the men’s version of the Super League, 64 clubs will participate, divided into three echelons: “Zirka” and “Zoloto”, 16 teams each, and the remaining 32 will play in the “Blues”. Each division will have a champion, relegations and promotions.

In the first two divisions, the teams are divided into two groups of eight and will play 14 matches each way, after which the knockout phase begins, starting with the quarter-finals, where the top four from each group advance. This knockout system, similar to current European competitions, will determine the champions of each division. There will be relegations and promotions between the three divisions, and from the blue division (blue), the lowest-ranked teams will be replaced by other teams based on sporting merit in their championships. The matches will take place from September to April.

32 teams will be able to participate in the women’s competition, divided into two divisions “Star” and “Gold”, from which two clubs will be relegated and promoted at the end of the season. Four teams will be eliminated from the “golden” echelon, the places of which will be taken by other teams depending on their sporting merits in the domestic championship.
