Environment Minister Mircea Fecet said Wednesday night on TVR Info that the ministry has received enough money in the 2024 budget for the programs it runs, writes News.ro.

“I would by no means call the 2024 budget a survival budget, because it is a bigger budget than last year’s. If last year we had budget loans for 2.7 billion lei, this year we have more than 3 billion lei. In other words, we can say that we have enough money for the year 2024, both for investments, which I personally support very much, and for the smooth operation of the ministry,” Mircea Fechet said.

When asked why Rabla Pluc ticket prices were halved, Feshe said that the overall budget of this program is important.

“It is true that the ticket price in Rabla Plus has changed due to the emergency decree, but I would like to make a difference between the ticket price and the program budget. This year we had a budget of 560 million for Rabla Classic, which we did not decide to modify in any way, and we had 780 million – money for Rabla Plus. I think we are very interested in the total cost of the budget. From this point of view, I want to say that we will propose an even bigger budget than we had in 2023 for Rabla Plus, in other words, let’s put even more electric cars on the streets and remove the rablas. This measure, aimed at the cost of the eco-ticket, will mean more cars for Romanians to buy. But it is more expensive, depending on the price of the car, because there is another novelty, the price of electric cars decreases from year to year, and the cost of an eco-ticket of almost 10,000 euros has been unchanged for many years. (…) I think that Rabla Plus will be successful next year as well, even if the cost of the eco-ticket will be lower. I say this looking at other EU member states. There are 7 countries in the European Union that do not give any bonus. They have done it until now, they decided that enough is enough, people no longer need to be encouraged, for environmental reasons, taxes, everyone decides for themselves why to buy electric cars. There are many member states that have the same price for electric car tickets,” Fesche said.

The minister says that Romania could apply the French model, where part of the leasing of electric cars is borne by the state.

“I will have discussions with manufacturers and importers because, at least at first glance, seeing that it is being done in France, I don’t see any reason why we couldn’t, for those who choose to lease a car, maybe they will win don’t buy it with money. Perhaps we will decide to finance such methods as well. We are only talking about Rabla Plus, electric cars. I hope that when we announce the program, we will be able to sit at the same table with all major car manufacturers and importers and say that everyone is satisfied,” said Mircea Fecet.

Also, when asked if Rabla Clasic keeps the ticket price of 7,000 lei, Feshe explained that he proposes to keep this price.

“We aim to preserve the value of this voucher. The tendency of recent years was to take not very much, so that there would be no problems, the tendency was to take money from Rabla and transfer it to Rabla Plus. But this can only be done in small steps so as not to unbalance what we already have,” said Mircea Fecet.
