
The owner of the company that carried out work on the connection to the sewage network of the secondary boarding school in Odorhei Sekujesk, the wall of which collapsed, resulting in the death of one student and the injury of three others, has been placed under judicial control. Magistrates rejected the proposal for preventive arrest, News.ro reports.
“(…) rejects the proposal of the prosecutor’s office at the Court of Appeal of Tirgu-Mureş to choose a preventive measure for the LSS defendant in the form of an arrest (…) appoints a preventive measure of judicial control over the LSS defendant for 60 days, starting from 12/20/2023 to 02/17 .2024 inclusive”, is the decision issued on Wednesday evening by the magistrates of the Tirgu Mures court.
The decision is not final and can be appealed within 48 hours from the moment of announcement for the defendant and from the moment of notification for the prosecutor.
The prosecutor’s office requested a preventive measure for the man.

According to the investigation, the man directly coordinated earthworks and did not comply with the quotas stipulated by the project.
He also ordered workers to excavate more than 2 meters to the bottom of the foundation, even though the maximum depth stipulated by the project was a maximum of 1.10 meters, compared to the current ground level before the work began, sources close to the site said. to the investigation.
When asked who decided to get to the foundation, the man admitted that it was he who decided and wanted to finish the work as soon as possible, because winter is approaching. He stated that he had ordered the excavation to be carried out on Monday and that it had been carried out with an excavator, and that he had no idea that there were any students in the building.
A worker who was digging said he saw a piece of plaster fall from above and then, in just seconds, the entire wall collapsed, he told reporters on Tuesday.
According to the construction permit issued by Odorheiu Secuiesc City Hall, workers were not allowed to excavate less than two meters from the building.
Also on Tuesday, the head of the State Building Inspectorate Paul Rakowitz said that any incidents of this kind can be avoided if the rules are followed.
“Any accident of this nature could have been avoided by paying a little attention, a little caution and following the current technical regulations. I think, from what I’ve seen so far, there’s a mismatch between what’s physically on the field and part of the project,” said Paul Rakowice.
The boarding school building of Tamasi Aron High School in Odorhei Sekujesk, Harghita District, partially collapsed on Monday afternoon, trapping four students under the rubble.
Two students were taken out conscious, another was given resuscitation measures, to which she responded. All three were taken to the hospital, one of them was intubated.
The fourth victim – a boy – was later pulled out, resuscitation measures were carried out, but to no avail, so he was pronounced dead.
