Road accidents are increasing
For about three months actuallyNational Interministerial Observatory of road safety (ONISR) records an increase in mortality. Last month alone, at least 281 people died on the roads, which is 16% more than in the same period last year. Motorists pay the highest price with 148 deaths, followed by pedestrians with 56 deaths last month. 33 two-wheeler drivers were also killed in November.
Fewer injuries
Unsurprisingly, accidents involving cyclists are also on the rise, particularly due to the increase in urban cyclists. So, last month it was 16 cyclists died and 143 were injured. Although there was also one death in EDPm (motorized personal vehicles) such as electric scooters. However, the number of injuries fell by 2%, with 4,535 injury accidents reported on the French mainland last month.
