The Federation “Sanitary Solidarity” announced on Friday evening that the decision to collect signatures for inciting a collective labor conflict has been made. A similar decision was previously taken by the Sanitas trade unions.

“This afternoon, the Coordinating Council of the Federation “Sanitary Solidarity” decided to start collecting signatures to incite a collective labor conflict. This decision was taken after the failure of the negotiations on 13.12.2023 with the government, which refused to increase the salary for health care workers,” Solidaritatea Sanitară trade unionists said on Friday evening, according to News.ro.

According to them, the protest actions announced for December 20 – picketing of the Government and ministries, respectively prefectures in the territory – “need to be replaced by a much more radical form of protest.”

“Given that both representative health care federations have taken this decision within their collegial governing bodies, the way is now open for a strike in the public health care sector,” the unions also said.

They said that in order to synchronize the actions of the two representative health care federations, the “Health Solidarity” Federation will start the signature collection procedure on Monday, December 18, 2023.

Sanitas unions also begin collecting the necessary signatures on Monday, an announcement made earlier in the week.
