In 2023, the tournament from Cluj-Napoca took third place

The Transylvania Open tennis tournament, organized this year in Cluj-Napoca from October 16 to 22, was awarded the title of the Best Tournament of the Year in the WTA 250 category for the second time in a row.

“It is with great pleasure that I inform you that the Transylvania Open has once again been recognized by the WTA Players as the ‘WTA 250 Tour of the Year.’ Receiving this award for the second year in a row is a testament to your team’s continued determination, dedication and hard work to deliver an outstanding experience that is clearly recognized by players on the WTA circuit.” said Steve Simon, president of the WTA.

Doubles winners Jody Burrage and Jill Teichmann praised the organization and running of the competition in Cluj-Napoca.

“I won my first WTA tournament at the Transylvania Open and all in all Jill and I had a great week in Cluj-Napoca. The organizers are working very hard to ensure the well-being of the players.” – they conveyed, reports WTA.

Subsequently, the Transylvania Open was held three times: 2021 (Anette Kontaveit won, score 6-2, 6-3, after the final with Simona Halep), 2022 (Anna Blinkova won, score 6-2, 3 -6, 6). -2, with Jasmin Paoloni) and 2023 (Tamara Korpatsh lifted the trophy after 6-3, 6-4 with Gabriela Ruse).
