Released in 2003 and updated in 2011 by the second generation Lancia Ypsilon today is the last survivor of the range of the famous Italian manufacturer, which was on the verge of disappearing from the market in recent years… Fortunately, the Stellantis group intends to relaunch the Lancia brand with a new positioning, a new logo, as well as an ambitious product plan that aims make it 100% electric from 2026.

To do this, the Franco-Italian group will soon launch a third generation Lancia Ypsilonand is not going to take any chances, as the future Italian city car will simply be based on CMP platform (Compact Modular Platform) of the latest Peugeot 208. While its design was revealed by a prototype that was surprised a few days ago in the Sochaux region and involved in an intriguing theft of the vehicle, the Italian brand has published a new teaser photo of the new Ypsilon in which we can discover detail of its front.

“Today, with the help of the second image, we present the front of the new Lancia Ypsilon, which presents a reinterpretation of the historic grille, a bowl projected into the future through three rays of light, making this new grille iconic, memorable and visible from afar. Above the “chalice” is Lancia’s double signature “chalice-lettering” that will mark the front of the brand’s three new models: a “chalice of light” that actually encompasses the brand name and clearly identifies Lancia’s identity, leading it to electric mobility »– said Luca Napolitano, director of the Lancia brand.

Lancia Ypsilon: a unique light signature

The front end of this new Ypsilon stands out big T-shaped LED sign, the prototype of which was the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE concept car, which reinterprets the symbolic Lancia “bowl” radiator grille. Now set against a glossy black background, it will now be recognizable from afar, day or night, and accentuates the new “Lancia” lettering in brushed stainless steel, which marks the new generation of the brand’s models.

In the dark, we can also see the presence of a camera that helps control the front parking assist system and 360° view around the car, while the front bumper is marked by four rectangular inserts at the corners, rounded, located above the license plate. , and which resemble the gills on the front shield of the Lancia Fulvia Coupé of the past years.
