“Help with the purchase of a clean vehicle”, “yuppet”, “disposal bonus”: conversion bonus that we know today has changed considerably over the years, although its principle has remained more or less the same. It is about a envelope provided by the government against the return of your old car, provided it is only used to purchase a “less polluting” car. The rules change from year to year, and from 1Er January 2023, eligible vehicles: diesel and petrol classified Crit’Air 5, Crit’Air 4 and Crit’Air 3 (+ unclassified vehicles). The premium is 5,000 euros and is reserved for households whose basic income per share is less than €22,983, but can rise to €6,000 if the income per share is less than €6,358.

At the same time, the Senate points to the fact that 13.3 million French people are in a situation of “mobility instability” and face difficulties in purchasing a new car.
In order to stop this phenomenon, a bill is currently being considered in the Senate: provide households with the lowest incomes with vehicles that were the subject of a conversion bonus, new and in good condition. It will be a long-term rental for €7 per day, reserved for households with a family ratio of less than €750. A helping hand for those with mobility issues and a welcome way to stay off the roads with vehicles that are mostly still functional…
