AFP writes that this announcement came less than two months after the passage of Hurricane Otis, which killed 50 people and destroyed all buildings and hotels on the seashore, with wind gusts exceeding 250 km/h.

At the end of November, the organizers of the tournament started a campaign to collect funds to support the reconstruction of the city.
