If the sales of electric cars are increasing again and again, and the market share of this engine reaches 15% in France, however, there is a slight slowdown. In fact, demand has stagnated slightly over the past few months, but many points still deter motorists. Among the most important price, apparently, which, according to a recent study, would pose a problem for about nine out of ten French people. And for good reason, these cars still cost a lot more than equivalents equipped with a traditional heat engine.

Help saved

And if that changes, we’ll still have to be a little patient, because experts don’t see anything in the future by the end of the decade. But in the meantime, how can we encourage motorists to buy these cars? Well, thanks to help with the purchase, for example, the environmental bonus. The problem is that the government wants to tighten the screws from next year, and may even eliminate it over the years. This can create a real problem, as Stellantis group boss Carlos Tavares explained at the grand opening of the new plant near Lyon.

Support the purchase of electricity

The French businessman explains that “all over the world, especially in Europe, as soon as we cancel the purchase assistance for customers, we see that the demand drops.” Then he believes that “by not supporting purchase of own transportelectric or hydrogen would be a serious mistake. This would obviously lead to a decrease in demand and a slowdown in all events.” Therefore, he asks the government to continue to provide financial assistance to motorists for the purchase of electric cars.
