The joint offices determined on Monday the calendar of hearings on proposals for the management of the ASF. According to the decision, nominations can be submitted in the coming days, and the leadership will be approved next week. Alexandru Petrescu is the PSD’s proposal for the position of ASF president, while the PNL will propose two politicians for the positions of vice presidents: Gabriel Avramescu and Gabriel Horga, political sources told HotNews.ro.

Petrescu is currently the president of the National Agency for Mineral Resources (ANRM) and was the economy minister as well as the director of Romania’s post office during a period when the company was involved in several scandals. In the fall of 2015, DNA initiated a criminal case based on reports received by the Ministry of Communications. Also, at the end of 2015, the Competition Council fined the company EUR 7.4 million.

Petrescu has dual Romanian and British citizenship. Petrescu has a degree in economics from the University of Wales, specializing in business administration. In London, he held several senior positions in the financial and banking system of Great Britain. Alexandru Petrescu also held the position of president of the board of directors of CFR Călători.
