Romania – Northern Ireland, the first friendly before EURO 2024
The Romanian national team will play two games in March, FRF reports.
The first will take place on Friday, March 22, at the National Arena in the company of a representative of Northern Ireland. The start time of the match will be determined later together with the television that will broadcast the match live.
So far, the teams have met 8 times. Romania won twice, three games ended in a draw, Northern Ireland won three times.
The last time these two teams met was in the autumn of 2020 in the Nations League, and both games ended in a draw (1-1) in both Bucharest and Belfast.
The second preparatory game for EURO 2024, in the diaspora
For the second game in March, which will take place on March 26, a decision is being sought to play the match in a country where the Romanian diaspora is well represented.
This is done in order to bring the national team closer to fans abroad as a thank you for their support in the EURO 2024 qualifiers. Negotiations are progressing and an official announcement will be made in the coming days.
