Ethan Crumbley, who was 15 at the time of the murder, was tried as an adult in Oakland County and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit and dark glasses, the teenager, now 17, told jurors he was a “very bad person” before the verdict was handed down.

In October 2022, he pleaded guilty to taking a Sig Sauer 9mm handgun his parents had given him as an early Christmas present at a high school in Oxford, with 50 bullets in a backpack, and shooting students.

Ethan Crumbley killed two girls and two boys between the ages of 14 and 17 and injured six other students and a teacher.

In a rare case, his parents were charged with manslaughter after being accused of negligence and ignoring warning signs that he was about to act.

Although they received calls from teachers reporting that their son was looking for ammunition online, they did not respond.
