Actor Ryan O’Neill, best known for his role in “Love Story,” has died at the age of 82, his son Patrick O’Neill said on Instagram on Friday, Reuters reported.
He was diagnosed with chronic leukemia in 2001, and prostate cancer in 2012, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
“Today my father passed away peacefully with his loving team supporting him and loving as he would have done for us,” wrote Patrick O’Neill.
He was “the funniest person in any room.” And the most beautiful, obviously, but also the most charming. A deadly combination. He liked to make people laugh,” said Patrick O’Neill about his father.
O’Neill starred in the classic 1970 romance alongside Eli McGraw. After a duet with Eli McGraw, O’Neal starred with Barbra Streisand in What Happened, Doc? (1972) and Main Event (1979).
O’Neill’s acting career took off after landing a role on the soap opera Peyton Place in 1964.
