Car shows are not so lucky. Following the announcement of the closure of Top Gear UK due to the serious accident of one of the three presenters, namely Andrew Flintoff, it’s Amazon’s turn to announce the end of The Grand Tour the iconic trio that created the golden age of Top Gear UK, in fact.

As a reminder, The Grand Tour was released on Prime Video in 2016 and quickly became one of the biggest hits on Amazon’s streaming service. But it seems the time has come for Jeremy, 63, James, 60, and Richard, 52, to turn the page and end (yet another) exceptional adventure.

The Grand Tour may be returning to Amazon, but…

However, Amazon is considering relaunching the show with new hosts, but the shadow of the remaining trio looms large and the BBC, which produces Top Gear UK, knows something about it. The tumultuous history of “Top Gear” after the dismissal of Jeremy Clarkson in 2015 showed that replacing our three main characters was not necessarily a simple matter.

All in all, the trio of hosts seem to have moved on, especially Jeremy Clarkson, who recently launched his own farming show, Clarkson’s Farm, on Prime Video. This show quickly became the most popular show in 2023. Meanwhile, James May explored new horizons with Our Man in… Travels , which debuted in 2020.

Is it the end?

The exit of the trio does not mean the immediate end of “The Grand Tour”. Two previously unreleased episodes will take viewers to Mauritania and Zimbabwe.

These final moments will be an opportunity for fans to enjoy the unique alchemy between Jeremy, James and Richard one last time. Then, who knows, we are not immune to the fact that one day we will see them again, together for new adventures.
