This is a little French bomb that went down in history by its character and its sporting philosophy: the Peugeot 205 Rallye. Forget the 205 GTi, built for pure performance. “Rallye”, released in 1988, was Peugeot’s answer to the call of fans of a light, pleasant to drive sports car. At the time, the manufacturer wanted to fill the gap that existed between the “good” 205 Since The Rally is a 205 GTi that gets to the point. The goal has been achieved!

Easier, cheaper

Because Peugeot’s idea behind it is to offer it with a smaller engine than the GTi to claim a lower starting price. The 1.3-liter engine with a capacity of 103 horsepower is borrowed from the Citroën AX Sports, and in combination with 5-speed gearbox from 205 XS. The suspension, steering wheel and steering are taken from the Peugeot and Talbot bank. That’s it, the 205 Rallye comes out of the ground, swallows Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 10 seconds, maximum speed — 190 km/h. Peugeot succeeded in its bet, and the public is here… Rally was initially supposed to be released in a limited edition of 5,000 copies, but in the end more than 30,000 were sold by 1991 ! A small “bombinet”, less famous than the 205 T16 and 205 GTi, but which, nevertheless, remained engraved in the history of Peugeot!

The return of the 205 Rallye

In any case, there is one who has not forgotten the history and symbolism of this model Holtz garage in Val de Travers, Switzerland ! This distributor had the great idea to resurrect the 205 Rallye by applying its styling to the current Peugeot 208, which it is offering for sale in limited numbers. This 208 Rallye displays all the aesthetic codes of its predecessor : white paint with stickers in Peugeot-Talbot Sport colors, metal wheels, “208 Rallye” lettering on the trunk and fenders. She is cute! On the other hand, don’t wait no special interior decoration or even mechanics : this modern Rally is equipped with a classic petrol engine 1.2 100 horsepower Puretech.
