Romania have been drawn in Group E of Euro 2024 and Mircea Lucescu believes the tricolors should be considered for a possible place in the last 16 of next summer’s tournament (June 14-July 14).

Mircea Lucescu sees Ukraine instead of Belgium

The team coached by Edi Iordenescu will play at Euro 2024 against Belgium, Slovakia and Bosnia, Ukraine, Israel or Iceland.

Answering the question about which group the tricolors belong to, Mircea Lucescu talked about the likely unexpected favorite: Ukraine.

In order to qualify for Euro 2024 and get into Romania’s group, Ukraine needs to win the Nations League playoff, route B.

There will be a semi-final with Bosnia and then a possible final with the winner between Israel and Iceland.

“A balanced group. I don’t see a favorite right now. Belgium? I don’t know if it is better than, for example, Ukraine. If Ukraine somehow qualifies, it seems to me to be the strongest.

Given that they have four players in the first team of the Premier League, two in La Liga, plus others… A team that has grown a lot. This is a team that also has a dramatic situation behind it.

Belgium is the second favorite, Romania is the third, but with chances. Romania has on their side a great rise compared to last year and good matches played.
