Culture Minister Raluca Turkan says that major American studios are interested in returning to Romania.

“Big American studios are interested in returning to Romania because the value of professionals from our country is well known abroad,” Raluca Tsurcan wrote on Facebook on Saturday after a meeting in Washington with Charles Rivkin, president and CEO of The Motion Picture Association (MPA), which brings together the largest film studios, namely Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Netflix Studios, LLC, Paramount Pictures Corporation, Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., Universal City Studios LLC and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.

The Minister of Culture reveals that he has assured the MPA representative of his commitment and the commitment of the Romanian Government to restore the support scheme for the production of audiovisual works in Romania.

“Next week, the Ministry of Culture, through the Department of Investments in Cinema and Culture, will make the first payments for projects that have been waiting for the Romanian state to fulfill its obligations for more than three years. At the beginning of next year, we will continue the settlement and settlement of outstanding projects, in parallel with the opening of a new project competition, in a revised form, which will increase the competitiveness of Romania in the European market of filming locations”, – wrote Raluca Turkan.
