The Alliance for the Fatherland party, led by former education minister and ex-social democrat Liviu Marian Pop, and the National Identity Force party, led by former business environment minister Ilan Laufer, merged through a takeover. at the Extraordinary Congress organized on Friday, the National Day, in Alba Iulia. Both parties will form an alliance with AUR in next year’s elections.

“On the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Great Union, today, December 1, 2023, in Alba Iulia, the party “Strength of National Identity” and “Alliance for the Motherland” organized an Extraordinary Congress “Merger by Absorption” to join forces within the framework of the Alliance AUR to win all elections in 2024, thus honoring the values, principles and faith in God that were the foundation of the Great Union concluded by our forefathers on December 1, 1918,” Ilan Laufer wrote on Facebook on Friday.

Laufer asked everyone to take part in “this fight, and with the help of each of us, we will win next year and restore the dignity of Romanians both in our country and in the EU.”
