Peugeot recently announced a recall of over 40,000 of its plug-in hybrids via potential corrosion problem.
This recall is not necessarily a big surprise in itself, as Opel recently recalled the Grandland X hybrids, which share similar technical elements with the Peugeot 3008.
Which Peugeot hybrids does this apply to?
The recall, codenamed MA5 by Peugeot, only affects the 3008 SUV, as well as the 508 sedans and estates. More specifically, it affects 3008 cars assembled between March 12, 2019 and December 12, 2022, identified by CE types. e22007 /460534 followed by numbers 10 to 17 or 21 to 25.
The 508 in question were produced between 10 July 2019 and 25 January 2023, identified by CE types e22007/460628, followed by the numbers 05 to 11, 13 to 14, 16 to 22 or 24. Only in France, This is a recall applies to 41,970 cars of all variants combined.
What repair?
The problem is the possibility of water ingress into the lower bracket of the high-voltage battery. After a while, this liquid creates a risk of perforating the reinforcement plate or the battery cover.
Peugeot dealers are now responsible for checking the presence of drain holes on the lower strut and creating them if they do not already exist. The area between this bracket and the bottom of the case will then be dried with compressed air followed by an application of anti-corrosion wax to prevent any future risks.
Peugeot reports that it is up to the owners themselves to make an appointment with their dealer. Obviously, the intervention, which can last several hours, is not billed to the clients.
