Actress Shannen Dougherty, who was diagnosed with invasive cancer, spoke to People magazine about her battle with the disease.

In a video posted on Instagram, the actress, known for her roles in the American series “Beverly Hills” and “Charmed”, shares her fears and hopes in a message full of optimism.

“I am not afraid of death, because I know where I am going and who I will see. I would be afraid if I were a bad person. But I don’t want to die,” she says.

As she continues her treatment, the 52-year-old actress is more determined than ever to move forward and inform the public. “People don’t know much about cancer. They think that means you can’t walk or eat, but it doesn’t. We are dynamic and have such a different outlook on life,” she says.

“I did not end my life. I’m not done loving. I haven’t finished creating. I have not finished hoping to change the situation for the better,” the actress continued.

In 2015, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After multiple rounds of chemotherapy and a mastectomy, she found the disease was in remission in 2017, before declaring a relapse three years later in 2020 at stage 4.

In early 2023, Shannen Doughery announced that the disease had spread to her brain. Despite having surgery on her skull last June to treat the tumor, Shannen Doherty revealed on Wednesday that it has now spread to her bones.

The always light-hearted actress drew a parallel between her cancer, which she nicknamed Bob, and the video game Pac-Man, in which the little yellow man must eat the most points in a maze:

“It eats up your whole body. This is one of the worst experiences of my life.”

Still optimistic, she concluded: “But now everything is fine. My best memories are yet to come.” (News.ro)
